About us

L’associació de patinadors de Barcelona:

We are a non-profit-making entity whose goal is encouraging inline skating as sport and playful element and contribute to human, social and cultural relationships deriving from it.

All this with sense of civil responsibility, fun and safety. Therefore: the APB organizes officially guided skate tours in a group all Friday at 22:30 through the streets of our city.
These routes begin in Vila Olímpica, besides Moll de la Fusta. They are free for everyone and their length varies between 14Km and 18Km. Generally, they last 2 hours at low speed with several stops.

These routes are organized and a group of voluntary stoppers stops the traffic with permission of the local police. It’s necessary to be able to maintain a minimum speed and knowing how to turn and stop correctly is mandatory in case you want to follow the routes safely. One of the conditions from the City Council when allowing us to stop traffic was that the group will be maintained organized and compact.

The APB offers with free inline skating beginner’s classes on Tuesday at 22 o’clock at Parc el Clot (Clot park). These classes are for people who are beginning with inline skating or still aren’t prepared to do routes safely. The other levels are only free for members. The yearly membership fee is of 25 Euros. In order to join the association you only have to come on a Tuesday to Clot park, fill in the application form and wait till the fee is charged on your bank account.

If you aren’t member you can do a test class.

Click here to get more information about classes
If you already can skate, we invite you to join us in the routes and have fun skating in a group. If you’re a beginner and you want to learn inline skating we invite you to our free inline skating beginner classes.

Fes-te Soci escrigué:

How can you join the APB?
The subscription is made with a unique yearly payment of 25 Euros. The membership fee makes you a member of the APB during a natural year and is independent from the date of subscription. The further renovation will be made automatically. There are two possibilities to make the subscription:

1- If you don’t have a photo in digital format
- If you still don’t have a username on the web, get one here
- Download the subscription form here (you need to be online with your username)
- Fill in the form according to enclosed instructions and sign it.
- Hand it out to any of the responsible persons present in Clot park on Tuesdays or on the routes on Fridays.
- It’s necessary to enclose a passport-size photo with your surname and name on it or send it by electronic mail to gestioapb@patinar-bcn.org

2- If you have a photo in digital format you are lucky, because you can make your subscription directly from in front of your computer, following these steps:
- If you still don’t have a username on the web, get one here
- Send an electronic mail to gestioapb@patinar-bcn.org with the following information:

Personal data:
• Number of national identity card/passport
• Full name
• Birthday (format dd-mm-yyyy)
• Telephone number
• Handy number
• E-mail
• Username on the web
• Complete address
• City
• Postcode
• Province
• Nationality (optional)
• Occupation (optional)
Bank data:
• Entity code (4 digits)
• Office code (4 digits)
• Control code (2 digits)
• Bank account number (10 digits)

Annex a photo to the mail and you’ll receive a message when your subscription has been processed.

Note: From the moment on you hand out a signed form with a correct bank account number you’re an official member of the APB. The membership card will be handed out when the new member hands in the photo. If you have any doubt, do not hesitate to communicate with gestioapb@patinar-bcn.org

Thank you all for your interest.

Other Routes
------------------

Don't worry, the Friday route is not everything. If you want to roller skate in the city there are alternative days in which people are in the habit of meeting and doing routes.
Nevertheless, these routes are not organized by the APB, and thus, there aren't stoppers that block the traffic.

- Tuesday Route: every Tuesday people meet in the Clot Park at 22'15 PM in order to do a sport route with a medium-high difficulty.
You must know how to brake without any kind of problems, since some speedy descents can be included in the route.

- Thursday Route: every Thursday people meet at 22'15 PM at Marina Street with Icària Avenue crossroad, or at 22'30 PM at Plaça Catalunya,
in order to do a sport route with a medium-high difficulty. The rythm is similar to the Tuesday routes, though it may change
depending on the assisstants' level. You must also know how to brake without any kind of problems, since some speedy descents can be included in the route.

There is a file for the Tuesday and Thursday routes where you can find a longer and more complete review of almost all the current routes,
with some advices on how to do them. You can find it here (you must be logged in)

- Sunday Route: If you want to roller skate during daylight and to do a route around Barcelona with a higher rythm than the Friday route
but slower than the Tuesday and Thursday routes, come to Marina Street with Icària Avenue crossroad at 12'00 PM.
The rhythm is flexible depending on the assisstants' level, and the route is totally different every Sunday.
During July and August this route is usually cancelled because of the heat.

The assistance to all these routes is open to everybody, free of charge and independent of the fact of beeig an APB member.
It is only necessary to go to the meeting point with an eager to roller skate.

Bueno, aquí os dejo el borrador de las consignas. Os agradecería que pusierais cualquier comentario o revisión que creáis que pueda servir para corregirlo o mejorarlo.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FRIDAY NIGHT SKATE

1) SOME BASIC SKATING SKILLS ARE REQUIRED, AS WELL AS BEING IN A RELATIVELY GOOD SHAPE.
If you are not confidant at braking and turning, or you're not able to maintain a medium pace for several kilometers, then you should postpone your assistance until you get ready.

2) RECHECK THE CONDITION OF YOUR SKATES BEFORE YOU LEAVE.
A worn-out brake, loose screw or dirty bearings could be responsible for an accident.

3) WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR.
The helmet, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads will protect you in case you fall. Remember that the best cure is to prevent.

4) EAT SOMETHING BEFORE SKATING OR TAKE AN ENERGY BAR WITH YOU.
If there are no nutrients enough in your bloodstream, you could, for instance, suffer hypoglycemia due to the excessive physical effort.

5) BRING SOME WATER.
This way you can drink each time you need and therefore keep your body hydrated. There are actually several stops close to a fountain, but these won't last until everybody gets enough, so the skate could resume leaving you still standing in line. Alcoholic drinks do not only accelerate the dehydration, but they are also incompatible with APB's night skates. Skating under effects of alcohol could be a strong reason to force us to ban you from the group.

6) BE ON TIME.
The event starts at scheduled time. If you don't think you can get on time for the start, you can join at any point of the skate.

7) LISTEN AND OBEY THE YELLOW AND ORANGE STOPPERS' INDICATIONS, THEY ARE IN CHARGE FOR THE SAFETY OF THE EVENT.
The stoppers are driving the group all along the route, so they use radio communication continuously in order to lead the skaters properly through the city and therefore avoid any unpleasant surprise or accident.

8) STAY WITHIN THE TWO LINES COMPOSED BY HEAD AND TAIL ORANGE STOPPERS.

8a) The orange head stoppers, together with the yellow ones, determine the pace of the skate. The traffic is being blocked right before the head of the group will pass. Overtaking the head stoppers could lead into a serious accident, which APB won't be responsible for.

8b) The orange tail stoppers reserve the right to overtake all the skaters who are not able to maintain a minimum average speed to stick to the group. The same applies to all the skaters who, even able to skate at much higher speed, keep dragging behind making empty spaces at the end of the group. The problem is that yellow stoppers can't keep blocking the traffic forever. Any overtaken person will be considered out of the event, which means APB is no longer responsible for its safety. The organizers simply can't provide any safety measures to them without harming those of the rest.

9) SKATE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY WHENEVER POSSIBLE
This way you make it easier for the rest of the vehicles, yellow stoppers or anyone who's skating faster to overtake you minimizing the risks.

10) DON'T SKATE ON THE PAVEMENT, BUT ON THE ROADWAY.
This is just in order to avoid any possible accident with a car coming out from a garage, or some absent-minded pedestrian.

11) RAISE YOUR HANDS WHILE BRAKING AND ALERT OTHERS IF THERE'S AN OBSTACLE ON THE GROUND.
If we all cooperate to increase the safety of the event it will help to avoid the chain accidents.

12) KEEP THE SAFETY DISTANCE TO ALL OTHER SKATERS AROUND YOU.
That's the best way to prevent the bottlenecks and accidents. If the skater in front of you falls down, you can get round him if there is time enough; if not, you will probably join him on the ground.

13) EXCESSIVE EXHIBITION OF YOUR SKATING SKILLS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
Skating backwards, slalom skating, performing tricks and other dangerous maneuvers could easily cause an accident by running into other skaters.

14) DON'T GET DISTRACTED WHILE SKATING.
Don't get too distracted chatting with other skaters, listening to the music or contemplating the views. Actually getting distracted is the first cause for the accidents on Friday night skates.

15) HOOKING TO ANY KIND OF VEHICLE (CAR, MOTORBIKE OR BICYCLE) IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.
It's very dangerous and you could face a fine if you get caught.

16) RESPECT THE REST OF THE SKATERS AND PEOPLE AROUND YOU.
You should adopt the same attitude you would like the others to adopt with you. APB's events are not meant just for fun, but also to show that skaters are responsible and respectful athletes.

Pues con esta traducción completabamos las realmente imprescindibles, se ha actualizado el menú dinámico con los nuevos contenidos en inglés y, a menos que alguien quiera corregir algún punto de las traducciones, daría el tema por cerrado.

¡Muchas Gracias Neomoha, Bones y Silice!
